Excavated on 30 August 3127 by Port Recovery Unit 19. Site: submerged internet café, port of Busan, under a film of hydrocarbons. Found held by its own cable and those of neighboring workstations, still wired together; cut free, neighboring cables catalogued separately. Wired model: filaments are the severed cable, strands frayed as it surfaced. Condition: dark iridescence from the oil; base broke when the piece was pulled free.

The controller linked a hand to a character on a screen. Records suggest that for many players the screen was where daily life took place: the body stayed seated while the character travelled, fought and met others elsewhere. Analysis concludes that, for these players, the game was less a pastime than a way out of a reality they preferred not to face.
