Artefact III – Toronto
Artefact III – Toronto
Accession no. E-SP-BC-003 · Toronto, Canada
Excavated on 11 September 3105 by Transit Recovery Unit 21. Site: drawer of a lost-property counter, Union Station, Toronto. Found attached to the strap ring of a bag reduced to fragments of coated canvas and a brass lock, with a key on the same ring. Hardware quality indicates a luxury travel bag. Condition: edges softened by handling, rust spots on an olive patina from moisture in the drawer. No claim on record. Only this piece was retained for the Museum.

Museum of Late Civilization · Specimen III
Small in scale and without apparent function, the Bad Charm held nothing, opened nothing, protected nothing. Records suggest it was sold sealed, its face unknown until the box was opened. Stock appears to have been scarce, with queues forming before the doors, and the rarest versions changed hands at many times their price. Once unsealed, it was typically clipped to a bag of notable value, where the two objects could be seen together. Analysis notes only that the practice was widespread, and that it ended within a season.
