Site: cave near Lummelunda, Gotland, used as shelter by hikers. Found fixed to a carabiner on the metal frame of a pack left against the wall; fabric absent. Condition: surface chalky, expression veiled by a limestone deposit from centuries of running water; base chipped when the crust was broken with a pickaxe.

Small in scale and without apparent function, the Bad Charm held nothing, opened nothing, protected nothing. Records suggest it was sold sealed, its face unknown until the box was opened. Stock appears to have been scarce, with queues forming before the doors, and the rarest versions changed hands at many times their price. Once unsealed, it was typically clipped to a bag of notable value, where the two objects could be seen together. Analysis notes only that the practice was widespread, and that it ended within a season.

Presentation
Delivered in its capsule: a glass dome on an engraved concrete base.
Figure height: 13 cm (5.1 in)
Overall height with capsule: 25 cm (9.8 in)
Material (figure): Copper and PLA composite
Finish: Sanded, chemically aged copper patina
Material (capsule): Concrete base, glass dome
Edition: Unique piece
Accession no.: E-SP-BC-004 · Gotland, Sweden

Certificate & provenance
Each artifact is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.

Care
Handle with clean, dry gloves.
